On a Saturday when rain didn’t fall ( there have been few days this year so far without rain) we went out and about exploring in Kent.
Scotney castle has gorgeous grounds and a lovely quarry area that was full of fantastic lichens hanging from the trees and covering all surfaces.
The castle itself is very interesting with weathering in the sandstone walls. The ruined part of the building is full of wonderful colours and textures.
Spring bulbs and hellebores brightened up the day with the promise of lots more to come.

Ducks were happily resting on the small ponds and streams, a super trip.
Scotney castle is a National Trust property . It does advise to book parking, this wasn’t an issue in February but is advisable as the weather improves .
